Friends gather in Elkhart to remember 13-year-old boy who died in accidental shooting

Friends, classmates and team-mates remembered a 13-year-old boy in Elkhart who died due to an accidental shooting.

They all gathered for a candlelight vigil Wednesday night on the basketball court at Mary Daly Elementary School, according to ABC 57.

The shooting happened Friday at a home in the 29000 of San Lu Rae Dr. On arrival, deputies found the victim, Devon Sullivan, suffering from a gunshot wound. He died at the hospital.

Counseling will be provided for students touched by Sullivan’s death at West Side Middle School when classes resume after the holiday break.

Devon from the moment he was born he had a soul of an old man.was very protective of me and his sister Diamond, full of energy, kindhearted, brave, loved basketball. I can remember him holding a basketball bigger then him. I miss him so much.so many good memories with him. I’m almost off probation so. I’ll be going to you son. Love you your mom
