Two local orthopedic leaders are becoming one.

South Bend Orthopedics (SBO) and Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center (OSMC) are combining and becoming Ascendant Orthopedic Alliance, according to a press release.

Both companies will combine their seven offices in South Bend, Elkhart, Mishawaka, Goshen, LaPorte, Middlebury, and Nappanee. All of the offices will remain open and there won’t be any changes to staffing.

“The two organizations do very similar work in adjacent communities,” said Don Hammond CEO of the new company. “As the name suggests, Ascendant will be the preeminent orthopedic resource for patients throughout the region.”

Company officials say by combining the two companies, Ascendant Orthopedic Alliance will be able to keep up with state-of-the-art technology and industry changes.
