Bethel College and Visit South Bend Mishawaka are partnering to offer a safety workshop for hospitality and tourism professionals and others who work with large crowds.

The event is prompted by recent tragedies such as the mass shooting in Orlando, aims to increase awareness and preparation in the event of a crisis.

The workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 2, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the President’s Dining Room on Bethel’s campus.

The workshop will be led by Mike Samp, former Chief of Investigations for the Mishawaka Police Department and a co-founder of St. Joseph County Metro Homicide. Topics will include how to keep visitors and employees safe, minimize the impact of an attack and understand the protocol of first responders.

The cost is $25 per person, which includes breakfast.

Those interested in attending can register online.
