Get out your tackle box — Potato Creek State Park is one of the top family fishing and boating spots in America.

Potato Creek’s Worster Lake was named the 20th best family-friendly spot to wet a line or cruise in a boat in 2016 by Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation.

To be considered for the list, a spot must be within an hour drive of a major city or town; have plenty of common fish species stocked; have amenities like playgrounds, camping areas and restrooms nearby;  and have several places to fish, like fishing piers.

“It is about more than catching fish, too,” Dan Bortner, director of Indiana State Parks, said. “It’s an opportunity to talk, to listen, to watch other wildlife and to develop in our youngsters an appreciation for all elements of the natural world.”

Potato Creek State Park is located at 25601 S.R. 4, North Liberty.
