A family dog lost its life in a fire that destroyed a home near Edwardsburg, Mich.

Crews from nearly a half-dozen area departments were called around 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 19, to the home in the 66000 block of Hess Road in Cass County.

The fire chief says crews were challenged getting equipment to the scene because of the narrow roads, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

Water had to be trucked in with tanker trucks, ABC 57 reported.

The people living at the home were not there at the time of the blaze.

There is no word, yet, on the cause of the fire.
